Solar Pumping System & Drip Network in Naivasha

The client relied on high-capacity diesel generators to pump water from boreholes to high-elevation buffer tanks. With rising fuel prices, energy costs exceeded Ksh 180,000 monthly. Additionally, older furrow and overhead sprinkler systems resulted in heavy runoff, soil erosion, and uneven moisture distribution across the farm’s rolling volcanic terrain.

Symnet engineered a turnkey solar irrigation plant featuring a ground-mounted 15kW polycrystalline photovoltaic array, paired with an industrial MPPT variable frequency solar pump controller. We designed and installed a 10-acre zoned drip irrigation network using 16mm pressure-compensating drip tape with 20cm emitter spacing. The system automatically pressurizes each irrigation block in sequence without requiring battery storage.
